 Mindfulness Based Living: The 8 Week Course

Begins: Saturday 2nd February 2019, 10am - 12am (Every Saturday evening for 8 Consecutive Weeks and a Full Day Retreat)

This programme is a comprehensive training in mindfulness, over 8 consecutive weeks, suitable for both beginners and for those who already have a mindfulness practice.

 

 “Although assumed to be subject to our conscious control, most of the time our minds shuttle endlessly between the past and the future. Little time is actually spent living in the present. Yet, our capacity to effectively handle stress, to make informed decisions, and to access previously untapped resources and apply them in challenging, fast-paced business situations all rely on our capacity to be present. Quite literally, only when we are in the present can we optimise our capacity to consciously respond to situations rather than simply react, bring greater concentration and focus to work, and to monitor our level of stress and take effective steps to address it.”Centre for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts.

 

 Participants will be taught progressive skills in mindfulness and compassion through presentations, guided practice and enquiry sessions. A strong emphasis is placed on experiential learning, and for this reason there are home assignments that include regular mindfulness practice, daily life exercises and journal writing. Each session runs for 2 hours, once a week, over a two-month period.

 8-Week Compassion-Based Living Course

with Kerri (CBLC Facilitator with Mindfulness Association UK)

9am - 11am each week over a two month period

For those that have already attended the 8-week Mindfulness Course, you are eligable for the next stage in the Mindfulness journey. 

This course follows the Mindfulness Based Living Course and is ideal for those who wish to continue to develop their Mindfulness practice so as to hold inner experience with warmth and kindness. If you have completed the 8 Week Mindfulness Based Living Course and are interested to attend the Compassion training please email: This email address is being protected from spambots. It aims to enable participants to develop their Mindfulness practice by training in Compassion.

If you are unable to attend an event, please consider offering your registration as a donation to the environmental work done by The Waterfall Retreat Centre in the Nkutu Valley. Credits can be transferred once towards another event and must be used within 6 months of their date of issue.

No credit or refund is available if you cancel after the deadline.

What to bring to a retreat?

  • A hat and sunscreen
  • Water bottle
  • Yoga mat
  • Warm blanket/shawl for meditations
  • Layered clothing for winter
  • Good walking shoes
  • Chairs and cushions are available; but if you have a favourite cushion, please bring it.
  • You will be asked to remove your shoes prior to entering the studio; you may want to wear or bring warm socks.
  • Please wear layered clothing as the studio temperature can vary from cool to cold.
